This morning we got up early and headed down to the travel doc to get our shots. A friendly and fast-talking nurse explained everything we need to know about traveling to a developing country in rapid fire prose."Let's talk diarrhea... rabies: stray dogs and monkeys are not your friends... AIDS - you know all about that, skip to the next page... you're going to drink bottled water..."
We got four shots each: our final Hep A and Hep B vaccines, a typhoid vaccine and a yellow fever vaccine. The last one stung, which the nurse warned as she was injecting it. "Hey! Don't pull away from me! It stings because it's acidic, like vinegar." Well, you could have warned me you were going to inject acid in my veins!
